FROM THE ARCHIVES S.M.A.S.H. FEST

Ten years ago (ca. 2013), hot on the heels of running the suddenly defunct New York Surf Film Festival, Ty Breuer turned his considerable attention to furthering his lasing impact on the New York area surf scene, creating a new and more encompassing aspiration aptly named Surf/Movies/Art/Shaping/History.

Ty asked me to put together a crew and direct some promos for his nascent film and art festival, parroting some of the great moments in New York cinema history. That sounded like a fine idea.

A year later we’d launch the It Doesn’t Not Work hydrodynamic-design symposium together.
Of course, Ty is still at it, hosting surf podcasts and staying wet.
